BLACKPOOL LYMPHOMA SUPPORT GROUP

DOES THIS APPLY TO YOU?
You and your family, relatives or friends may already be experiencing worries and concerns about living with Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

You may find it helpful to meet and talk with others who have already travelled the journey and are living on a daily basis with the condition and are able to share their experiences with you.  We are a very friendly and caring group.  Why not come and see if we can help?

We meet in the Macmillan Windmill Unit in the evening on the second Monday of each month.  Usually we have fifteen to twenty people who attend each meeting.

WHO IS IN THE GROUP?
This is a self-help group providing support; friendship and information to anyone affected by lymphoma and is intended to complement what our health professionals are already doing.  Members of the group include those who are living with Hodgkin lymphoma or non-Hodgkin lymphoma, following treatment such as watch and wait, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and peripheral blood stem cell rescue; some may be still receiving treatment and others could have been out of treatment for a short time or even a number of years.  Some members of the group are family, relatives or friends and this helps to ensure that we have fun and the meetings are not ‘doom and gloom’.

WHAT DOES THE GROUP DO?
You will find that others have faced some of the issues and concerns that you may be worried about and sharing strategies that have worked for others could be helpful to you.  A balanced programme of events can help to meet the ‘needs’ of the group and may include talks, information, and social events.

I do hope that you will be able to take part in your group in the Blackpool area.  Remember there will be many other people who are experiencing similar feelings and concerns that you may have.
