Paul Vine is cycling around Vietnam and Cambodia to raise funds for the Lymphoma Association.

The Periwinkles and their supporters have raised over £30,000 for the Lymphoma Association.

Steve Baxter raised over £1,200 for the Lymphoma Association by completing a 400 mile cycle challenge.

Jamie Walker's football match raised £7,500 for three charities, including the Lymphoma Association.

HORSE SHOW
A summer charity horse show is being held in aid of the Lymphoma Association.

The event, which has been organised by Show Team, (North West & Midlands), will take place on Sunday 1 August, 9am at Pennington Stables, Dairy Ground Farm, Stockport.

LIVERPOOL 10K
Daniel Walton, 20, is taking part in the Liverpool 10k, which takes place on Sunday 3 October.

He chose to take part in the event after two relatives were diagnosed with the disease.

He said: “My Nan was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2003 and passed away in 2004. My Dad was then diagnosed with the same disease in August last year and has been battling it ever since. He’s had chemotherapy and various medicines and so far, his results have been positive.”

FUN NIGHT OUT
A charity fundraiser is being held at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries on 27 August from 7pm-1am.

Entertainment includes 70’s glam rock tribute band, Glam’d and a disco. A buffet is also provided. Fancy dress is optional!

Tickets are £15 each and tables are set out in 12’s so feel free to invite friends and family.

CYCLE CHALLENGE
Our supporter Paul Vine is cycling around Vietnam and Cambodia to raise funds for the Lymphoma Association. He is heading out to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on October 9 and will cycle through the Mekong Delta and up through Cambodia, finally arriving at Angkor Wat 7 days later.

4,000 MILE CYCLE CHALLENGE!
Our supporter Nicholas Tempest is riding his bike across the United States from Yorktown, Virginia, to Florence Oregon. This will be a total of over 4,000 miles!

SUMMER FUN DAY
Tracy Kiss, 22 and partner Luca Dizenobia 26 are holding a summer fun day to raise money for the Lymphoma Association.

The event takes place on Sunday 1 August from 11am-5pm at Kingsbury Square, Aylesbury.

Entertainment includes a bouncy castle, a gladiator’s podium, a children’s magic show a live music.

Tracy said: “The event will not only be a great chance for families to have fun, it will also give local businesses the chance to network with each other and also to show our guests just what Aylesbury has to offer so that they can shop locally.”

CHARITY LUNCH
Stoke Mandeville couple Pat and David Aylett recently organised a lunch which raised £400 for the Lymphoma Association.

The event which was held in Stoke Mandeville Primary school was attended by 47 people including Aylesbury Town Mayor, Cllr Graham Webster who has chosen the Lymphoma Association as one of his charities this year.

David, whose treatment has been successful, said “This is the sixth most common cancer but, like most people, we had no idea about it until I was taken ill and then we needed to get all the help and information we could. I had excellent treatment at Stoke Mandeville hospital’s Haematology and Cancer Care unit and this was backed up by the information and advice from the Lymphoma Association.

“People who couldn’t attend gave generous donations and many others, including some local businesses, gave us items for the raffle. We are very grateful for everyone’s generosity and I’m very pleased to be able to give back something to the Lymphoma Association as a thank you.”

THE MARTI-THON
Martin King-Sheard is taking part in a series of challenging events to celebrate being in remission from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Martin, 34 was diagnosed with cancer in May 2008 and after being put in remission in January 2009, he decided to organise his own ‘Marti-thon’ where he is hoping to raise £5,000 for the Lymphoma Association.

His adventurous challenges include doing a 160ft bungee jump, two triathlons, a three day bike ride, a tandem skydive with his wife Sally and climbing the 15 peaks in Snowdonia.

COAST-TO-COAST CHALLENGE
Peter Smith, his wife Joyce and two friends raised £709 for the Lymphoma Association by completing the Wainwright Coast-to-Coast path – a 190 mile challenge!  Peter said: “The event went very well. I’m so pleased we managed to complete it without mishap. We were very lucky with the weather and only had two days of rain and low cloud so we managed to see glorious views for most of the walk.”

MANCHESTER TO BLACKPOOL BIKE RIDE
Robert Houghton, 28, from St Helens took part in the annual Manchester to Blackpool bike ride to raise money for the Lymphoma Association.

The event, which took place on July 4, saw Robert take on a cycle challenge starting from Manchester United Football Ground at Old Trafford and ending on the South Promenade at Blackpool.

KILOMARATHON
Three friends from Newcastle took part in a Kilomarathon - a 26.2 kilometre race from Nottingham to Derby.

Katharine Lawrie, partner Ross Brown and friend Michael Welsh chose to take part in the event, which took place on Sunday 14 March, to raise awareness of lymphoma and funds for the Lymphoma Association.

Katharine said: “My mum was diagnosed with lymphoma before she had me and then two years ago, my partner Ross was diagnosed with the same form of cancer. We wanted to take part in the event to give something back to the charity.

“The atmosphere was great and there was a real buzz in the air throughout the race. Ross, Michael and I really enjoyed the day and feel pleased with our finishing times. We’re looking forward to taking part in our next event in September when we will be taking on the Paras’ 10 which is a 10 mile endurance race hosted by the Parachute Regiment. The gruelling training continues!”

RUGBY MATCH
The Lymphoma Association Rugby Team - The Periwinkles - played Hitchin RFC for the Robin Thorpe Memorial Trophy on Saturday 8 May.

Since the first match in 2003, The Periwinkles and their supporters, brilliantly assisted by the players, committee and members of Hitchin RFC, have raised over £30,000 for the Lymphoma Association. The matches are played with a great sprit and dedication to the cause and The Periwinkles are the current holders of the trophy.

As well as a fundraiser for the charity, the day was also a terrific social occasion, made all the more enjoyable by Hitchin RFC's great bar and clubhouse.

FOOTBALL MATCH
Dancing on Ice's Danny Young and many other TV stars put on their boots in a live charity match at Field Mill.

The star-studded line up, which included actors from Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, along with some premiership legends, dug out their football boots for former Stags-apprentice Jamie Walker’s fifth annual charity football match Sunday April 25 2010.

The Jamie Walker select XI faced a TV soap stars XI at Field Mill, with the match ball being spectacularly delivered by the Langar skydiving parachute stunt team who will skydive into the stadium with smoke and flares.

All proceeds from the match will be shared between three charities that Jamie holds dear to his heart – The Lymphoma Association, Kings’ Mill Hospital Children’s Ward and the Nicholas Fund.

CYCLE CHALLENGES
Our supporter Ian Leech took part in two bike rides to raise money for the Lymphoma Association.

On Saturday 12 June, he took part in the Lymphoma Association’s annual bike ride - a two day event where participants took on a 120 mile cycle challenge from York to Derby.

Then, the following weekend, Ian took part in Nightrider – a 100km circular route challenge around London.

Ian took part in the events in memory of his 20 year old daughter Melissa, who sadly passed away from non-Hodgkin lymphoma on May 11 2008.

SPONSORED HEAD SHAVE
Lauren Phillipson has raised £2,888.50 for the Lymphoma Association by organising a sponsored head shave. The 20 year old student from Hartlepool decided to organise the event after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma six weeks ago. 

GREAT BRITISH TEA BREAK
The Vickery family raised an incredible £565 for the Lymphoma Association by holding a Great British Tea Break. Di Vickery decided to organise the event after her 18-year-old niece Erin Berry was diagnosed with non Hodgkin lymphoma.

The whole family worked hard to ensure the day was a success. Di’s husband Paul was on washing up duty, while her mother Jean Berry helped to serve the teas and coffees. Di’s daughter Alice made cakes for the occasion and son James undertook a hula-hoop marathon.

FOOTBALL FUNDRAISER
A fundraiser held at Stevenage Borough Football Club has raised £388.23 for the Lymphoma Association. The event was organised by Julie Benham, whose daughter Hayley was diagnosed with lymphoma last year. They held a bucket collection outside the grounds and raffled a signed ball. They were also helped by Mascot Boro the Bear, who walked around the football grounds with Lymphoma Association balloons and information leaflets on lymphoma.

SPONSORED HEAD SHAVE
17 year old student Francesca Penny raised a huge £2,597.80 for the Lymphoma Association by cutting off her long locks! She decided to organise the event to support her boyfriend Fergus, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in December last year.
